Alpha Corporation President Philios Angelides received National Recognition for Mentoring from the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME)

Alpha Corporation President Philios Angelides recently received one of Society of American Military Engineers’ (SAME) most esteemed honors—the 2015 Gerald C. Brown Mentoring Award. This places Philios in a special category of SAME’s membership in being distinguished both as a Fellow and mentor for the past 20 years.

Since 2005, the Gerald C. Brown Mentoring Award medal has been presented annually to a Fellow who has demonstrated their passion for mentorship, who abides by the highest ethical standards, who seeks continual professional development, and who shares this knowledge with those around them.

Specifically, Philios was cited for being instrumental in forming the SAME DC Post’s Student Chapter at The George Washington University as well as being a mentor for their Joint Base Andrews Field Chapter, advocating for programs that have benefited both military and civilian members stationed at the base. Through his relationships with associations such as CMAA and ACEC, Philios was also noted for having planned workshops that brought technical experts to educate DC Post members.

The medal for this prestigious honor was presented at the 2016 Academy of Fellows Investiture Ceremony held Thursday, March 10.
