Project Summary
American Sports Center International’s Complex was designed to be a focal point for adventure recreation activities, events and programs in and around Western Maryland. The Complex’s main feature is a re-circulating whitewater course, surrounded by a central village adjacent to 550 acres of trails and recreational venues. Phase 1 involved construction of the 1,600-foot (0.303 miles) whitewater course and surrounding central village. Amenities include restrooms, changing rooms, a 600-person outdoor amphitheater, picnic areas, a pedestrian bridge, and scenic walking paths. Phase 2 encompassed the creation of Fork Run, a 550-acre mountain wilderness area for adventure excursions and activities. Amenities include vehicular access trails, a kiosk, restrooms, and an outdoor classroom.
