The American Council of Engineering Companies of Metropolitan Washington recently selected Alpha Corporation to receive an Honor Award for the 2013 ACEC/MW Engineering Excellence Awards Competition. Alpha submitted the “VAMC West LA Building 500 Base Isolation Feasibility Study” under the Non-Design/Study Category. Through the efforts and innovative practices of the study team, comprised of the Project Manager, EBA Ernest Bland and Associates; the Structural Engineers, Degenkolb Engineers; and, Alpha Corporation, a feasible solution was provided that meets the primary goal of maintaining operations while performing the work required to meet the seismic design requirements of the Department of Veterans Affairs.
