Alpha Corporation Volunteers in Wreaths Across America Program at Arlington National Cemetery

Alpha Corporation joined the SMPS DC Chapter to participate in the Wreaths Across America program at Arlington National Cemetery. More than 50,000 volunteers descended on Arlington to help place 230,000 veterans wreaths starting at 9:30 am. The festivities throughout the morning included arrival of the official truck convoy at the cemetery main gate with multiple truckloads of boxed wreaths. Everyone’s efforts concluded with the official wreath laying ceremonies at President John F. Kennedy’s grave, the USS Maine Mast, and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. This year was especially important because 2014 marks the 150th anniversary for Arlington National Cemetery. Wreaths Across America established a goal that every marker throughout the Arlington grounds receive a wreath whereas previous years only ended up with half the cemetery markers receiving wreaths.
