The Ariel Rios Building was renovated to bring it up to the current standards for office space, safety and EPA requirements. Work included architectural renovation of office areas; removal of asbestos and hazardous materials; new and upgraded mechanical, electrical, and fire safety systems; and historic preservation.
The Ariel Rios Federal Building is located at 12th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W. in Washington, DC and is part of a group of government office buildings known as the Federal Triangle. The Building was initially constructed in 1934 and served as the U.S. Post Office Department until the Post Office Department moved and the Department of Treasury Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms became the major tenants.
