Project Summary
The extension of Battlefield Parkway was constructed in multiple phases. Alpha Corporation was involved with providing construction management and inspection services for two of the phases including Edwards Ferry Road to Fort Evans Road and South King Street (Route 15) to Evergreen Mill Road (Route 621). The Edwards Ferry Road to Fort Evans Road phase involved construction of approximately 1,650 feet of 4-lane arterial roadway with a sidewalk and multi-use trail immediately south of Edwards Ferry Road. The South King Street to Evergreen Mill Road phase involved construction of a new 0.7 mile segment of Battlefield Parkway and widening of 0.3 miles of the existing Battlefield Parkway to four lanes between Evergreen Mill Road and the Dulles Greenway. The new roadway is a four-lane divided arterial roadway with parallel sidewalk and shared multi-use trail. This project was constructed under VDOT’s Locally Administered Projects program and has reduced congestion and improved traffic flow to Route 15.
