Project Summary
The new $1.2 million feature trail was an addition to the existing Family Recreation Area in Lee District Park. Chessie’s Trail is a 2,650-linear-foot accessible trail with interactive features and activities along the path. It includes unique seating areas, a metal grate bridge, sculptures, animal tracks in the sidewalk, and a welcoming entry feature.
Alpha provided structural engineering services to design the boardwalk, retaining walls, pergola, and stairs needed to construct the new trail. The trail included a variety of surface types such as concrete, asphalt, and boardwalk.
