Project Summary
This project involved the design of dual bridges as part of the Route 58 corridor improvement project. The 230 meter, five- span structures utilized steel plate girders to span across the valley containing Cave Fork, a tributary of Hardy Creek. Design was affected by construction accessibility and environmental impact due to crossing a heavily wooded wetland area. The chosen configuration utilized a maximum span length of approximately 61 meters with maximum pier heights of 35 meters.
