Water Pollution Control Plant Renovation – Arlington County

Project Summary

The Water Pollution Control Plant (WPCP) is a facility that treats 30-million gallons of wastewater each day from County residences and businesses. The Plant’s mission is to safely and economically process wastewater and hazardous waste materials and to protect our environment, especially Four Mile Run, the Potomac River and the Chesapeake Bay. Due to a growing population in Arlington’s residential and business communities, increasing demand from neighboring localities such as Alexandria, Fairfax, and Falls Church, and new federal and state regulations, the WPCP has been required to expand and improve its facilities. This $568-million upgrade and modernization project included approximately 2,800 piles which were required to construct new buildings and structures at the WPCP.
